The Saint Louis Private Fund (SLPF) is a Missouri limited liability
corporation, formed in 2008. SLPF and the Saint Louis Business
Development Fund have agreed to co-invest in approved applications
submitted to SLBDF. The primary reason for the agreement is to
increase the maximum investment amount to $1 million from $500,000.
The Private Fund investors consist of 22 local business leaders
who are interested in promoting the economic growth in the region
by investing in successful local companies.
Relevancy to Applicant
In most instances, investment in a client company will be equally
shared between SLPF and SLBDF. There will be only set of closing
documents, as well as only one note.
The relationship between SLPF and SLBDF will be seamless to
the client, from the application to the closing processes.
SLPF Board of Directors
John F. Kalishman is the managing director
of Harcourt Capital Management, LLC, a registered investment
advisor that operates
Harcourt Capital LP. Prior to forming Harcourt Capital Management,,
John served as director of corporate strategy and development
at Insituform Technologies, Inc. He worked for Arthur Andersen & Co.
from 1984-88 and became a certified public accountant in 1987.
He currently is a director of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis
where he also serves as chairman of the investment committee
for the St. Louis Jewish Community Foundation. John is also a
trustee of the Wyman Center and is a graduate of the Leadership
St. Louis program.
Gary Matthes is the former co-owner and President of Advantage
Sales & Marketing, a food brokerage firm. He sold the business
in 2004 to Allied Capital. Gary is a past president and board
member of the St. Louis Food Brokers Association, and served
on the Board of Directors of the Allied Food Club. He is also
the past president and current board member of Sunset Country
Club. Gary has served on numerous advisory committees for such
companies as Del Monte, Dow Chemical (Retail Div), Alpo Pet Foods,
and Mars, Inc. He is currently retired.
Rick Holton is the Managing Member of Classic Car Studio, a premium
classic car dealership specializing in building, restoring and
selling classic automobiles. Rick also serves as Chairman of
Arch Framing & Design, a commercial picture framing and mirror
company catering to the hospitality industry. Prior to starting
his business career in St. Louis, he received an MBA from Washington
University Olin School of Business. Rick currently serves on
the board of Anchor Packaging, an international food packing
company.
Tim Houghton is the former President and owner of Hutchinson
Foundry Products, Inc. Hutchinson is a manufacturer of precision
die cast parts for the electric motor industry, with plants in
Alton, IL and Monterrey, Mexico. Prior to purchasing Hutchinson
Foundry, Tim was the Vice- President and General Manager of Metal
Container Corp., which is a subsidiary of Anheuser- Busch. Under
his control, the company grew from four to ten plants in a span
of five years. Tim managed all operations, purchasing, quality,
and personnel functions for this $500 million manufacturing subsidiary
from 1978 to 1990.
James Saitz is the Vice Chairman of Southwest Bank of St. Louis
and the former Chairman, President and CEO of both Missouri State
Bank and Trustcorp Financial, Inc. Prior to his work with Trustcorp
Financial, James was the Executive Vice President and Chief Credit
Officer, Magna Group, Inc., a multi-state holding company headquartered
in St. Louis, Missouri. He was also the President and CEO of
Landmark Bancshares Corporation, another multi-bank holding company.
Mr. Saitz holds many positions with various local organizations,
including: Chairman of the Board of The Wyman Center, Director
of St. Louis Equity Fund, and the Board of Trustees of St. Louis
University. Prior to his business career, James was a Sergeant
in the United States Army.
